Hey there, all you fabulous Otome gamers out there! ๐ฎ๐ It’s me, your go-to otome enthusiast, back with a fresh review of “Jack Jeanne”!
First off, can we talk about the music and voice acting in this game? Absolute chef’s kiss! ๐ต The voice actors really bring the characters to life, while the music just wraps everything up in an audacious symphony of emotion. I mean, who doesn’t want to live in a world that has its own soundtrack? ๐ง
And the characters, oh my stars! They’re as vibrant as a new day sunrise, each with their own sparkling personality that makes you want to get to know them better. Personally, I couldn’t choose between Suzu and Neji, they both stole my gamer girl heart! ๐
Okay, let’s get into the nitty-gritty, the stat-raising simulation. If you’re a geek like me, then you’ll be all over this aspect! ๐ It can be pretty tricky making sure you’ve got the right balance to get the good endings but, honestly, isn’t that half the fun? Aaaand, the rhythm mini-games… let’s just say my inner dancer has never felt more alive! ๐
Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The artwork. Yep, the characters were mostly stuck in one pose and we didn’t get much in the way of animations or cutscenes. My heart yearned for more high-quality art! And while we’re on this train of thought, I have to say, the repetitiveness was definitely a downer. Like, we’ve seen these plays and lines over and over again. ๐ญ
Bigger let down? No dating or routes for the characters from Onyx, Rhodonite, or Amber. I mean, come on, we’re otome gamers, we live for the romance! ๐ And where was the secret hidden “true” end? I was totally anticipating an ending with Chui, the villain. No such luck. ๐ข
The slow buildup of romance was just adorable, though! The tenderness and sweetness of a first love was captured perfectly, just as it should be. ๐ฅฐ So, if you’re looking for a game with mystery, suspense or drama, this might not be your cup of tea. But if you’re into stat simulation games like me, then you’ll probably find some enjoyment in Jack Jeanne.
You didn’t think we’d skip the juicy deets on unlocking those good endings, did you? Now, sit tight, we’re in for some spoiler-free-ish info! ๐๐ฎ
For all you completionists, to get a good ending for each character, you need to have your Love Interest’s stat at 30, watch all of his cut scenes (it helps if you spend every weekend with him because some of those cut scenes have to be unlocked before certain performances), and focus on raising his corresponding statistic when school’s in session. I know, I know, it’s a bit of a grind, but the payoff is so worth it, trust me! ๐๐
Scoring S or SS in every song and dance is also part of the deal for the best ending, and let me tell you, those few extra minutes of story you get after the credits for each character will leave you giddy with joy. It’s like the cherry on top of your otome sundae! ๐จ๐
And if you’re anything like me on my first playthrough, you might accidentally stumble upon the “true” end if none of your stats hit 30. Spoiler alert – this leads to Tachibana’s ending, which finally sheds light on why the game is called Jack Jeanne. And that’s pretty intriguing, wouldn’t you say? ๐๐ญ
While some might argue the game is light on romance, I’d say it’s more like a slow-burn love story. Remember our girl is disguising her gender, so things only really start to heat up after the fall performance. And when it does, oh my stars, it’s nothing short of tender and sweet, just like a first love should be. ๐ธ๐
But, I have to admit, the lack of routes or dating options for characters from Onyx, Rhodonite, or Amber was a letdown. Who else was hoping for a hidden true end involving Chui, our intriguing villain? ๐๐ค
So, there you have it! Now you’re all set to explore the delightful and complex world of Jack Jeanne. But tell me, lovely gamers, have you played it yet? What were your own experiences like? Drop your thoughts in the comments below and let’s get the conversation rolling! ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐
As always, keep gaming and stay fabulous! ๐๐ฎ๐
Oh, and before I sign off, I have to give a shout-out to some other amazing stat simulation games I’ve played and loved: Angelique, Girlish Love Revo, Lucky Rabbit Reflex, Princess Maker, Graduation, Magical Diary, Princess Debut, and Monster Rancher (yeah, I know it’s not an Otome Game, but it’s still fabulous!)
As a final note, I’m just beyond grateful that Jack Jeanne got an official English release, and here’s hoping we’ll see some fandiscs, sequels, or DLC in the future that’ll let us explore the other characters more! ๐
